The project title will be the Thirty day project. My father came across this when reading one of his regular music blogs, by the founder of cdbaby.com Derek Sivers. This was posted on his blog about the music industry and a youtube video which was called the first follower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW8amMCVAJQ&feature=player_embedded
This video involves one man dancing at a festival giving his all, alone on the side of the hill while the rest of the festival goers sit and watch, then comes the first follower, the leader embraces his presence and treats him as an equal, so now its not about the leader its about the first follower who calls for his friends to join in. Being the first follower is an under-appreciated form of leadership. Then comes along the second follower, its proof that the first has done well. Now comes two more, then three more, and before you know it the whole festival is booming. As more people join in its no longer risky. The new people that join will be part of the in-crowd so everyone does. Leadership is over-glorified; it was the first follower that transformed a lone nut into a leader.
So from this Andrew Dubber (Birmingham Uni lecturer) started an experiment, where he would think of an idea for thirty days, whether it be a website, a system, a concept, a piece of software, a new sandwich filling, whatever. And theses ideas are free for anyone to use. So the next follower Andrew Wicklander (blogger ), decided after the 30 days were over, he would take what he thought was the best idea and produce, make or design whatever the idea was. The idea he chose was the thirty day project. http://www.andrewdubber.com/2010/03/30-days-of-ideas-05/
So he took this idea, of having a thirty day calendar which is instead of have a new years resolution, which as we know mostly everyone gives up after a month or so. The idea is, you do something for thirty days, what ever it may be, and blog about your experiences and what you have achieved in those 30 days. So as he promised, Andrew Wicklander produced the website http://thirtydayproject.org/
So I have decided to take the challenge and be a follower to Derek Silvers, Andrew Dubber and Andrew Wicklander
My 30 day project will involve me producing a piece of art work every day for 30days. I will use the website to document what I have done to produce this piece of artwork that day, and what are the influences I have had to produce this piece of work weather it be a small video, a drawing painting, or small sculpture anything. At then end of the 30 days, I will exhibit the 30 object/art works and why I have produced this on this particular day. Due to the deadline, I will only be producing artwork for the 24 days.
